The last person I met with a Bucket List was in his mid-to-late 40’s and had just completed the Warrior Dash, which involves jumping over fire. While the Warrior Dash isn’t likely to EVER be included in any kind of list of things that I’d like to try, more physical activities and more travel-related activities will be included.
The following suggestions regarding bucket list ideas are just to get you started. Another way to add things to your bucket is to look at your local newspaper in the activities or travel section.
Bucket List Generating Ideas:
Physical Activity
If you played sports in the past and are feeling the adverse effects on your spare tire or other parts of your body, include some physical activities on your bucket list. Some examples for you to consider are (in no particular order):
- Participate in a 5k charity event. You can walk; jog; walk and jog together; swim; hike; use a mobility scooter if you are disabled.
- Join a gym, yoga studio, Pilates class, martial arts class, or some other class which forces you to try a new physical activity.
- Play a sport. Playing the role of weekend warrior is a lot harder in adulthood than as a child, but can be more rewarding in terms of creating new friendships, etc. and feeling better about your mental and physical health.
Travel
I’ve traveled some and many people are envious of my travels and wish that they had traveled more in their lives. It’s never too late to travel more in your life.
- International Travel: There are so many inexpensive package deals to exotic locations now that international travel has become much more possible for many Americans than it was before. If you don’t have the money now, have fun reading about other countries and making a list for your retirement. Start saving a little ahead of time for some dream vacations.
- Domestic vacations: Grab a book about America’s cheesiest places and add a few to your bucket list. While you’re at it, try to see a few of America’s national parks while they are still here.
- Staycations: Everyone’s fave buzz word from a couple of years ago--are also a great way to see your city or town. Make a list of all the tourist destinations in your area and try to go some new ones.
- -Means of Travel: bicycles, boats, inflatable rafts, scooters,Planes, trains, automobiles, bicycles, skateboards, Segways.
