Don't Forget the Sexy Stuff!

Almost everyone’s bound to have something sexy on their Living To-Do List. And why not? Sex is a healthy part of life, if taken seriously and responsibly, and there are plenty of things out there to satisfy anyone’s cup of tea.

I have a smattering of sexy things sprinkled throughout my own list, and while I’m not going to specifically mention them out of respect for my hubby, I am going to list a few suggestions that you may want to have on your own list. (Yes, it’s safe to say that at least a couple of these are on my list!)

Please don’t be offended if this list seems to be directed at only monogamous relationships, as I’m writing from my own perspective and experience (in some cases). If you have any other experiences you’d like to share please feel free to do so.

Wear something sexy. Even if you’re a flannel kind of person, dressing up in something lacy can be fun once in a while!

Make love in a novel setting. This is as limitless as the world itself—choose a country or a place as specific as a certain hotel, castle, city, whatever. Or, go for setting—such as in the woods, in a waterfall, on an airplane, in the snow, at the beach.

Wear something that’s NOT you. A cheerleader? A gangster? Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd? Try something crazy!

Try a Laura Corn book. I’ve written about Corn before; her books are very creative and present a wide variety of activities that are, though largely sexual in nature, also often romantic. Many of her products offer tear-out pages with “dares” or activities to carry out.

Try out a lubricant. Many people experience difficulty with dryness, so a lubricant is something that you may wish to try. There are plenty of scents, flavors, and even sensation-causing brands on the market, but there are also very discreet, plain varieties, too.

Try an adult toy. While I maintain that everyone should own a vibrator (even if you don’t use it for it’s “intended use,” it can make a helluva muscle massager), everyone has different tastes. Some people may want to use bondage equipment; others, blindfolds, or even a feather tickler. No matter your preference, there is bound to be something out there that you might enjoy.

You can also find a list of rather daring sexual adventures in Been There, Done That: The Balls-to-the-Wall Checklist of Things Worth Doing, by Rob Cohen and David Wollock. Even if you find most of the things suggested to be too much, it’s still entertaining to read, as well as to take an inventory of what things you’ve done in your own life.
