I’ll be the first to admit, I have a weak immune system. As a preteen, I had to repeat the 7th grade, because I was sick constantly and missed three quarters of my 7th grade year from illness. These days, if I go out to a club where there are lots of people coughing and sneezing I make sure that I take Emergen-C the next morning to keep from getting sick. That’s been the case at pretty much every club I’ve been to in the past couple months. It is cold and flu season after all.
This past weekend, I was over at some friend’s house. I sat on the couch and watched some TV with them and their roommates. It was a lazy Sunday. However, when their roommates sat down on the couch and admitted to me they were sick (they sounded miserable) I knew I’d be reaching for a packet of Emergen-C once I got home. That did the trick; two days later and I have yet to get sick.
So what the heck is Emergen-C ? Just take a look at the article: Does a UTI Have You Down? I reference Emergen-C as a part of my daily regimen towards kidney infection (aka: Urinary Tract Infection) prevention. So what does this tell you? Obviously Emergen-C has multiple uses. Technically, it is a dietary supplement energy drink powder. It comes in a vast amount of different flavors. It is marketed and manufactured by Alacer Corp. This is a part of Foothill Ranch in California.
I usually like to take a packet and mix it with 8oz of water before breakfast. I like to drink it before I put any food in my system. It gives me a great energy boost and serves to perk me up in the morning. Taking it without any food in your system will allow the vitamins to be absorbed by your body. The presence of food would not allow these vitamins to be utilized by your body as effectively. For more information on taking vitamins and supplements before/during/after meals, click here.
Now probably the coolest thing about Emergen-C is that you can get a free sample here! Fill out the form and they’ll mail a packet (or two!) directly to you. This will allow you to “try before you buy”. Though I guarantee you’ll fall as much in love with this supplement as I have. Here is to a happy, healthy and disease-free 2011. Cheers!
