Legally Get High

Though you may have “get high” period on your list, today we’re talking about natural and legal ways to do it! You might think you’re a pretty straight-edge person who has never gotten high in your life. You may think that you’ve raised your kids to be completely wholesome, and that there’s no chance in hell that they’ve ever been high, either.
And you just might be wrong!
You’ve probably already gotten high through one of these natural (and legal) ways. If you haven’t, and you want to say “Yeah, I’ve been high!” try one of these things to get it checked off your Living To-Do List.
- Spin. Yep, good old spinning around and around in circles will get you high. I was pretty surprised when I learned this, seeing as I did it pretty often as a kid—and have done it plenty of times with my own daughter. Let’s face it, spinning in circles is fun, and what better way to stop spinning than to fling yourself into the grass or on a big fluffy bed?
- Run. You might think that a lot of runners go the distance to stay in shape, train for marathons, or to get away from their kids for more than the time it takes to pee—but there’s also the famous runner’s high involved. When you run for long distances for at least twenty to thirty minutes, the brain can produce endorphins. Mountain climbing can produce a similar effect.
- Laugh. Good, hard laughter is yet another producer of endorphins—and it’s much more accessible than thirty-minute runs for many people. Laughter clinics, yoga classes, and therapy coaches all help people harness the highs of laughing hard for good health.
- Use herbs. There are dozens of legal herbs on the market that can get you high—however, you should always research them and consult with a physician before taking any herb, as it could cause a negative reaction with any medications, or even foods, that you are already ingesting.
- Have sex. This can increase your dopamine levels, which provides a temporary altered state of mind.
- Meditate. This is the way to get a truly psychedelic trip without tripping anything but your thoughts. Deep meditation can induce a state of mind where a sense of place, self, and time are all lost. Yoga, dancing, drumming and other spiritual practices can have a similar effect.
